One important thing that you should consider in choosing appliances is the amount of electricity it is going to use. Some appliances are built to use up lower amount of electricity compared to others. The savings on energy may seem relatively low but if you translate that to an annual figure, you will be surprised at how much all that sums up to.
How do you know which appliances are energy efficient? Appliances that have the ENERGY STAR certification are the ones that use less energy. Aside from the certification, there are also other tips you can consider in choosing the ideal home appliances.
Refrigerators – The refrigerator is one of the appliances in your home that uses more electricity. If you want to save on your electric bill, be sure to get a fridge that best suits your needs. If you are a family of very few members and do not really store food in the refrigerator, it is advisable that only get a size that is not too big for your needs. It will require more energy to keep a large refrigerator cool and all that energy will only go to waste if you are not really using it. Refrigerators that have separate doors for the freezers are also recommended.
Stoves – Gas and electric stoves almost have the same design and price. The choice actually boils down to the use. If you do a lot of baking, or you use the oven more often then you should get the electric stove. However, stove top cooking uses less energy.
Washing machines – Front load washing machines use less energy, water, and soap. This type of washers may be a bit pricier compared to top load washers but it will give an average household a savings of about a hundred dollars in a year.
Air conditioners – Getting the correct size of air conditioner to match the size of your room will translate into savings as your air conditioner will not have to work overtime to keep the room cool. A small air conditioner if used in a big room will take a little longer to cool down the temperature unlike if you are using a bigger air conditioner in a big room.
